Appliance Repair | 7 Kitchen Must Haves
Appliance Repair | So you want a designer kitchen, but you think it’s only for culinary experts. Well, what if we told you that you don’t have to be Gordon Ramsay to have a designer kitchen? That’s right; we said it. You don’t need hundreds of thousands of dollars either! Interested now? With the right accessories, appliances and decor, you can turn your drab, outdated space into a high-tech, culinary hot spot. Our kitchen experts compiled a list of 7 things any designer kitchen must have! Check them out below.
A High-Tech Refrigerator
Every designer kitchen needs a tall glossy, refrigerator with ample cooling space, crisping drawers, and an oversized freezer. Even the newest models lack the futuristic functionality of a Jetsons refrigerator, but Samsung refrigerators are pretty close. Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled its latest futuristic, yet functional refrigerator to the world — The RF4289. This model allows you to write Post It notes on a touchscreen embedded in the refrigerator door. If you need to cook, but have internet tasks that can’t wait, you can log into your Twitter, Facebook or Google account from the same screen. Need mood music while you cook? Listen to your Pandora playlist through the refrigerators surround sound speakers! If you want to impress your guests with a delicious, new recipe, simply log onto Epicurious from the refrigerator’s smart screen and begin your search for the perfect meal. Sure, you can’t demand your fridge to fetch and vend ingredients for you, but it’s pretty darn close.
A Self Cleaning Oven
Due to Global Warming, people are growing more concerned over carbon emissions. If this is a concern to you, your designer kitchen should contain energy efficient appliances and at the least — a self-cleaning oven. These ovens require no cleaning products since they clean themselves using high heat (roughly 900 degrees Fahrenheit). Self-cleaning ovens have thicker insulation than typical ovens so there’s little risk of fire, and the best part is that they look shiny and cool. LG, GE, Samsung, Frigidaire, Bosch, and Whirlpool all have self-cleaning options.
Note: Unlike The Jetsons, you can’t stick a rock in your oven and program it to turn into a juicy Turkey, but we’re pretty sure Samsung and LG are working on it.
Stainless Steel Range Hood
What’s a designer kitchen without a stainless steel hood? A smoke-filled mess — that’s for sure. If you want to eliminate odors and smoke, install a cooking range hood with a filter. Inside of the filter is an electric fan that sucks in smoke and odors. The odors are pulled through a charcoal filter, which kills the smell on contact. Although range hoods come in a variety of colors, stainless steel range hoods can improve the look of your kitchen and increase the value of your home. These hoods look great when paired with a self-cleaning Samsung range.
Glass Cabinet Doors
Glass cabinet doors add a designer feel to kitchens of any size. They’re normally used as accent doors to showcase fine china or everyday dinnerware and not on cabinets that house spices or food items. If you’ve had your cabinets for some time, you may not find a glass door for your suite, but you can have them made from your old cabinet doors. If you’re on a tight budget, you can make your own glass cabinet doors for less than $50. This project takes a little over an hour, but the finished product is well worth it.
If you’re a fan of CES or you’re a sincere techie, you’ve probably already seen your share of connected devices and appliances. Though they’re cool to look at, they’re also practical to use. Samsung has a variety of connected devices for designer kitchens ranging from talking refrigerators (as mentioned above) to smartphone activated washing machines. If you’re looking to do a complete kitchen remodel, consider replacing your old appliances with these connected options.
High-Tech Cooking Gadgets
What’s a designer kitchen without high-tech instruments? They’re fun to use and cool to look at! Impress your guest with a few high-tech must-haves. The following items are staples in many designer kitchens:
- Belkin Crock-Pot WeMo Slow Cooker – No more overcooking your roasts. You can control this crock pot from your mobile phone.
- AwoX StriimLIGHT – This light bulb has speakers and plays music via Bluetooth!
Another cool staple worth mention is the new digital Bluetooth cooking thermometer. It sends reminders back to your phone to let you know when your bird or roast is ready to eat! This is perhaps one of the most popular high-tech gadgets to date.
There once was a time that only culinary chefs and European home owners could purchase a drawer dishwasher, but those days are long gone. Now, anyone can purchase a drawer dishwasher and save prime kitchen space. These dishwashers are less than half the size of a traditional dishwasher, but they work just as well. Some people don’t like the bulky un-uniformed look of a dishwasher — if you’re one of them — this would be a perfect option for you. – Appliance Connection
